Fashion Illusration..

Annabel Luton

Holly Fowler

So, Amelia's Magazine needed a couple of illustrations for a review on the Central Saint Martins' Graduate fashion show. I created these two images. The clothing I was illustrating had a strong sense of pattern and print! Like always, I love to see what you all think. So don't be shy.

Getting started is always scary.

So I have been pretty quiet lately...I guess life has just got in the way a bit. Well that should all change now as I have thrown the towel in at the old day job and I am now focusing one hundred percent on my illustration work.

What better way to spend my first day of this new adventure than to do an illustration of a band called Bear Driver, who played at the Brainlove Festival in Brixton.

What do you think? i'm not sure this will be my final image but it's a start.......

Inky goodness

Tonight, i was looking through my twitter stream and noticed a new tweet by @inkygoodness! They have a new project on the go called 'character totem'. They have basically build a massive totem pole (which is bare) and taken photos of it. They are inviting all of us talented creative lot to download the image and create our own totem characters! i know this sounds fun, what's better, is they are touring for live draws in various cities in the UK. This little piece of information has brightened up my day/night.

I'm getting stuck in as we speak!!! enjoy peeps!

Black Swan

Well, by now i'm sure many of you have seen Black Swan. It is a beautiful bit of cinema. (i'm not sure i could really say i enjoyed it) I can say that it was striking and definitely inspired me to get the paints out. I found this still from the film and i think it shows the black Swan finally breaking free. Also you should all check out Little White Lies cover for Black Swan Issue. Pretty darn awesome. www.littlewhitelies.co.uk

i hope you like my little scribble....

Zoe's not an egg anymore...

So tonight I got a little distracted from my cowboy & Indian illustrations. The reason? Well.... My friend Zoe has been an "egg" on twitter for the last five months. She has finally decided to upgrade to an actual picture. So she asked me to do an illustration of her, seeing as she is the crafty type too (co-member of The Line UP). I hope you all like it.

This wild horse...

I have just finished this drawing....i'm happy with it. I am hoping to turn this into a repeat pattern on fabric. Get it printed onto bags, cushions etc. I will then embellish with leather/beads/feathers. Anything that's quite eclectic. I think this will fit in perfectly with the Indian i have already drawn.

Wild Horses..

So last night I posted one of the illustrations for my "cowboy & indian" textile designs. I wanted to do wild horses, as they are so beautiful and free. I think when you see wild horses you think of the American West. This is just a quick drawing, basically just the idea stage. but i hope this gives you an idea of my train of thought. I like where it's going.

Sunday

Hi all,
here is my first illustration from my cowboys & Indian designs. I hope you like him. I want to get him printed onto tote bags and cushion covers. Then maybe i shall hand embellish with feathers and beads?! anything is possible. I am currenty drawing a little cow boy to go with him...... I want to have a wild horses pattern too. I love the rusty brown and blue in this image.....this may be the colour flow through-out the designs. What do you think?

The sundance kid...

i'm sure most of you will have heard of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?! Its a brilliant western film. Well today it has inspired me in a few personal projects. I have always had an interest in the American West, ever since my school days sitting in history, listening to Mrs Holeness (my brilliant History teacher) go into great detail about what it was like to travel miles upon miles, with all your worldly possessions stacked into your wagon. With just the hope of a better life in the West.

This in turn would send me into a day dream imagining i was a Native American watching all of these strange people entering my territory. I have kept this same exciting/mysterious view of the Native American culture. Hence my new project..... I am doing Cow boy & Indian illustrations, which hopefully i can get printed on to my own fabric and eventually make beautiful accessories for home and wear.

this is by no means a small project, and, it may well take the rest of this year.....It will be soooo worth it though!

keep an ear and an eye open

The Line Up.

Over the last few weeks, a few friends and i decided it was about time we did something fun. (work wise i mean) Zoe  Lines, a very talented graphic designer was feeling frustrated at the lack of creative freedom she gets at work. While Lynne Datson was struggling to find that step into going professional as an illustrator/designer. I was all of the above. So we sat and ate cake (of course) and brainstormed. What we came up with is---- The Line Up.

We are now a creative collective, searching for new design opportunities, best of all i get to work with two of my best friends! We all have very different visual languages, but, i feel that this lends itself well to us having a broader spectrum of work to show clients.

currently we are looking for freelance work. We are not fussy, and treat any brief with fun and sensitivity.

some more flowery goodness.

I really enjoyed creating these images. They are pretty and gentle. I would love them to be printed in a dress.

A few of my illustrations from my first Freelance Gig.

I was asked to do some illustrations for a jewellery range. With the idea that they will be used on the packaging. I had to incorporate a bow and use turquoise/blue in the illustration. This is what i came up with...
